چکیده
Abstract The lignocellulosic materials are promising feedstock to produce biofuels and bioproducts in the biorefinery framework. However, a pretreatment step is required disrupt lignin-carbohydrate complex. In this work, fractionation of Pinus radiata wood into its main components, cellulose-rich delignified solid, recovered lignin after precipitation, soluble-in-black liquor hemicellulose, was studied. For purpose, an organosolv process employing ethanol/water mixture as solvent absence catalyst carried out. effects operating conditions on solid were evaluated by using 2 3 central composite experimental design, being responses yield, delignification degree, hemicellulose content, glucan content. variables studied temperature (170–200 °C), time (50–100 min), ethanol concentration (40–60%). increase severity (temperature time) reduction favor enrichment due removal solubilization. A content more than 66% obtained applying higher 195 °C longer 90 min, when 40 wt% alcohol used. liquid fraction during (black liquors) used recover hemicellulosic fractions solubilized. Furthermore, correlated with thermal stability measured T 10% .

Suppression of Litter Decomposition by Mycorrhizal Roots of Pinus Radiata
Two experiments, designed to give more information about the suppression of litter decomposition by radiata pine (Pinus radiata D. Don) roots and their associated microflora, were carried out. In the first, root activity was reduced by cutting the boundaries of small areas of the forest floor in an unthinned stand. Samples collected after 3, 6, 9, and 12 months showed that less litter accumulat...
متن کاملEucalyptus globulus wood fractionation by autohydrolysis and organosolv delignification.
This work provides an assessment on the fractionation of Eucalyptus globulus wood by sequential stages of autohydrolysis (to cause the solubilization of hemicelluloses) and organosolv pulping (to dissolve lignin, leaving solids enriched in cellulose). With this approach, valuable products (hemicellulose-derived saccharides, sulphur-free lignin fragments and cellulosic substrates with low conten...
متن کاملPyrolysis Products of Pinus Radiata Bark
The yields of char, tar, and non-condensible gases from the pyrolysis of Pinus radiata D. Don bark were measured. Pyrolysis of bark, on a small preparative scale using an airacetylene flame, gave 48% char with ash content 3.5% (mainly aluminium, calcium, potassium, and silica), and recovered tar in 7% yield (on oven-dried bark equivalent). The major components of the pyrolysis tar were catechol...
متن کاملThe Abortion of Conelets in Pinus Radiata
Observations and records collected over a six-year period show that, in a seed orchard of Pinus radiata at Kaingaroa Forest, approximately half of all female strobili initiated abort during the first year after pollination. For an average clone this process of conelet drop starts at the time of receptivity, reaches a peak some four to six weeks later, and then decreases in intensity. This time ...
متن کاملWater use by Pinus radiata trees in a plantation.
We used the heat-pulse velocity technique to estimate transpirational water use of trees in an experimental 16-year-old Pinus radiata D. Don plantation in South Australia during a 4-month period from November 1993 to March 1994 (spring-summer). Fertilization and other silvicultural treatments during the first 8 years of the plantation produced trees ranging in diameter at a height of 1.3 m from...
